Depew grew up as a railroad town, named for Chauncey Depew, the New York Central Railroad president, and the tracks that once made it a major rail hub still cut through the village today near the Amtrak Buffalo-Depew station. The village straddles the line between the Town of Cheektowaga and the Town of Lancaster, giving it its own separate village government while still sitting inside both larger towns. Transit Road and Broadway are Depew's commercial spine, and Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve technically has its mailing address here even though the preserve itself sits mostly in Cheektowaga. Housing is a tight mix of early-1900s railroad-era homes near the tracks and postwar ranches further out, all on a compact village street grid.

Transit Road and Broadway carry Depew's commercial traffic, while residential streets near the old rail yards still show the tight, close-set lot pattern typical of a railroad-era village. Newer ranch homes fill in the blocks further from the tracks, built through the 1950s and 60s as Depew grew alongside Cheektowaga and Lancaster. Because the village is compact, most of our Depew jobs are straightforward driveway drops without the access issues that show up in denser city neighborhoods.

On private property — a driveway, a yard, a job site — you will not normally need a permit anywhere in Erie County, and that covers the large majority of our Depew deliveries. What matters far more is whether the surface can take the weight and whether the truck can physically get in.
